DAYTIME CLASSES AUTUMN 2022

The Autumn Term  starts in late September 2022.  There will be ten sessions, the Winter Term will start in January. 


Subject to availability, new members are welcome to join classes during the term on a pro rata basis.


Please note all courses are limited to a maximum of 8 participants and that full payment per term is required when booking.

Intermediate French (part 2)

Fridays 1030-1200.


Fees: £130.00 for a 10-week term.



This course is for those who already know enough French to manage everyday situations  and to be able to hold a conversation on general topics such as travel, hobbies etc. You should have a good knowledge of the basics of French grammar and be ready to move on to more advanced topics and grammatical constructions. We will build on existing knowledge to improve confidence, accuracy and vocabulary and the correct use of all the tenses. You will need a copy of the coursebook Façon de Parler Book 2 (5th edition published by Hodder Education).   The textbook will be supplemented by additional material (sent by email) for further practice of listening, speaking and reading skills.

Speaking,  listening, reading

Tuesdays 1045-1245

All scheduled sessions will be on Zoom but, subject to demand there will be the opportunity to attend some face-to-face conversation sessions  at times to be arranged at a local (i.e. close to Bedford) venue on a pay per session basis.


Fees: £135.00 per ten-week term.

This course is a lower level than French Conversation (see below).  There is no textbook for this course but there will be some regular revision of grammar.  The aim of this course is to improve accuracy and confidence in conversation, to work on listening skills and to build vocabulary. We will work with a wide range of subjects and material for listening and reading comprehension and as a basis for conversation. The fee includes all material for the course which will be sent by email.

French Conversation

Wednesdays 0930-1130 or  Wednesdays 1330-1530


Some sessions will be on Zoom, others will be face-to-face at a local (i.e. close to Bedford) venue.


Fees: £135.00 for per ten-week term.



This is the highest level course. For this course you need to be able to hold a conversation in French. You should have a good understanding of the correct use of tenses and other grammar.  The aim of this course is to improve fluency in conversation, to work on listening skills and to build vocabulary. We will work with a wide range of subjects and material for listening and reading comprehension and as a basis for conversation. There is no text book for this course and the fee includes all materials for the course which will be sent by email.
